Sustainability

Sustainability is a core value in all aspects of O2 emc's operations.

We strive for environmentally sensitive development, analyzing the impact of our solar farms on the surrounding environment.  We ensure that our solar farms will not impact valuable natural and cultural resources, such as wetlands, habitats of endangered species, and archaeological sites.  Our equipment never reaches more than twelve feet in height, and all of our solar farms are enclosed by a seven-foot fence to ensure the safety of visitors, workers, and animals.

The energy that solar farms generate is 100% renewable and carbon-free.  Solar farms do not create any smell, noise, or impermeable surfaces. After their 30-year life, equipment can be removed from the ground, and the land can return to agriculture the following year.

Power generated by solar farms prevents the significant environmental degradation that would have occurred if the same amount of power were generated by burning fossil fuels.  The following graphic shows the water that would have been used, coal that would have been burned, electricity that would have been consumed, and gas that would have been used if the same amount of power produced by our fleet each year was generated by fossil fuels.
